Dear 17 magazine,
I challenge you to put out an issue dedicated one issue to body positive body image and as part of the issue I further challenge you to not Photoshop a single model.
You preach positive body image, and yet issue after issue, I see Photoshopped models that creating an unrealistic image for your readers to see and follow. You have a huge circulation, most of them are young girls who are influenced by you pages. As you know, unrealistic images in magazine can cause girls to strive for the impossible bodies they see in magazines. I know because I have suffered from an eating disorder and poor self image caused in part by these unrealistic images.
So I am asking you to dedicate one entire issue dedicated to positive body images with expanded body peace articles, use realistic models that reflect all body types and sizes throughout the magazine, and to refrain from touching up the photos that you use.
An Ancient Chinese proverb says “An invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, despite the time, the place, and despite the circumstances. The thread can be tightened or tangle, but will never be broken.”
